Bappenas Discusses Strengthening Indonesia-Kuwait Relations

JAKARTA – The Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy received a visit from Indonesia’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Lena Maryana Mukti, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Kuwait.

The meeting focused on Indonesia’s development priorities and potential development partnerships supporting the Asta Cita, particularly economic transformation and industrial downstreaming.

“Long-term national development priorities outlined in the 2025–2045 National Long-Term Development Plan include enhancing the quality of superior human resources, strengthening green and blue economies, and developing smart, sustainable, and integrated infrastructure. In the medium term, the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan emphasizes accelerating strategic infrastructure development, bolstering food, energy, and water security, and enhancing the competitiveness of the halal industry and creative economy,” said Minister Rachmat Pambudy on Thursday (16/1).

During the meeting, the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas proposed several areas for bilateral collaboration. Opportunities such as cooperation in food security and modern agriculture through technology, including with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), and partnerships in new and renewable energy were identified as priorities for bilateral relations between the two countries. Additionally, significant potential was noted in the development of the halal industry and creative economy, as well as Kuwait’s support for the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), all of which were key agendas in fostering mutually beneficial Indonesia-Kuwait relations.

Collaboration in the field of new and renewable energy holds significant importance in accelerating Indonesia’s energy transition. Minister Rachmat emphasized that Kuwait could be a strategic partner in harnessing Indonesia’s renewable energy potential. This aligns with global commitments to reducing carbon emissions and advancing green development, as agreed upon by both nations.

The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas is optimistic that Indonesia-Kuwait cooperation will bring substantial benefits in driving transformation across various strategic sectors. This meeting also strengthened the diplomatic ties between the two countries. Kuwait’s support for Indonesia’s strategic programs, such as the development of Nusantara Capital City, is expected to serve as a concrete step toward realizing the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 as a developed nation. Through strong synergy, this bilateral cooperation is expected to deliver significant contributions to sustainable development.
