JAKARTA – The Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa, along with Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, held a limited meeting to discuss the preparation for the 2024 High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) on Thursday, 15 August. The forum, scheduled to take place on 1-3 September 2024, is part of Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen its role in various international forums and to showcase Indonesia's leadership in global solidarity as a dedication to the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision.
Minister Suharso emphasized the importance of providing strong and realistic information to the public, particularly regarding alternative financing solutions to meet the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is crucial to attract global attention and foster global solidarity through multi-stakeholder partnerships, especially with countries in the Global South, including Africa.
“Indonesia is working on establishing an alternative financing mechanism that will facilitate development spending in Africa. We see significant potential in Africa over the next ten years, where the region will dominate global population growth,” explained Minister Suharso. This commitment to alternative financing is expected to attract global interest and strengthen Indonesia’s bilateral relations with countries in the Global South, particularly in Africa, in the fields of economy and development.
Minister Retno added that it is crucial to clearly and accurately communicate Indonesia’s commitments and tangible contributions on the international stage to the public. The aim of providing precise information is to ensure that the public understands and supports Indonesia’s active role on the global stage.
The 2024 HLF MSP is expected to be a moment for Indonesia to demonstrate its leadership on the international stage, particularly on global issues such as the SDGs and strategic cooperation with southern countries. The forum will also serve as an important platform for Indonesia to promote strategic initiatives in the economic, social, and environmental fields, in line with the national vision outlined in the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN).
