Partnership News - Fri, 16 February 2024
The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas together with the Bali Provincial Government, Buleleng District Government, and PT Dirgantara Indonesia initiated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Development of the Aerospace Industry Ecosystem in Bali Province, in support of the Kerthi Bali Economic Transformation.
The Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, stated that as an archipelagic nation, Indonesia should already have a reliable and robust air transportation sector. Good air connectivity is a solution for accessibility and regional integration, thus it is expected to promote equal development among islands and create new centers of economic growth. "Certainly, this is not a one or two-year activity, because economic transformation is a long-term effort that requires continuous commitment. What we are doing is based on our efforts to launch the Kerthi Bali Economic Transformation masterplan with the goal of making Bali a new era Bali by 2045," said Deputy Amalia, on Friday (16/2).
The signing of this MoU is also the implementation of the Roadmap for the Kerthi Bali Economic Towards the New Bali Era: Green, Resilient, and Prosperous, which was launched by the President of the Republic of Indonesia on 3 December 2021. Out of the six transformative strategies of the Kerthi Bali Economy, two strategies align with this MoU, namely Productive Bali and Integrated Bali. Under the Productive Bali corridor, the increase in the productivity of Bali's economy is carried out through the development of quality, sustainable, inclusive tourism in Bali, as well as the development of high-value-added industrialization. Meanwhile, under the Integrated Bali corridor, the development of the Bali aerospace industry ecosystem is expected to support Bali's policy direction as an Air Logistics Hub and integrate Bali's economy with West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and East Java.
This MoU is also in line with the Aerospace Industry Ecosystem Roadmap 2022-2045 launched by the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas on 21 November 2022. The creation of a conducive and competitive aerospace industry ecosystem is carried out in a focused and in-depth manner through the development of aerospace products, including aircraft such as the N219 and its components, as well as various aerospace services and supporting ecosystems such as Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO) and After-sales services, flight services, education and training, and airport services.
The development of the aerospace industry ecosystem cannot be done by the government alone but requires synergistic collaboration with the business world. "This is not only the role of the central and regional governments, but we continue to gather strength with various business actors, and today we are gathering strength with several players in the aerospace industry sector," concluded Deputy Amalia.
