In an effort to strengthen community empowerment, accelerate poverty reduction, and improve social welfare, Minister for National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, met with Chairman of the National Council for Indonesian Social Welfare (DNIKS), Effendy Choirie, in Jakarta on Wednesday, 23 July. The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering collaboration across stakeholders, including civil society and philanthropic organisations, to support the priorities outlined in the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), particularly in the field of social development.
Minister Rachmat stressed that fulfilling basic needs such as food, healthcare, education, and access to clean water, remains a major challenge. In this context, DNIKS and social organisations play a vital role as government partners in implementing social policies. “DNIKS’ contribution is exceptional. We support this collaboration, because we share the same goal: improving the welfare of the people,” said Minister Rachmat.
Deputy for Community Empowerment, Population, and Employment, Maliki, underlined the importance of DNIKS’s on-the-ground collaboration, especially in updating socio-economic data and optimising funds from outside the state budget, such as CSR and other philanthropic contributions. This approach is key to ensuring that programmes are well-targeted and free of overlap.
Minister Rachmat also highlighted that improving the data infrastructure is a fundamental step. The government is currently refining the National Unified Social and Economic Data (DTSEN), which includes real-time information on individuals’ names, addresses, and conditions. “With accurate and up-to-date demographic data, we have a solid foundation for planning development that truly reaches the most vulnerable groups,” he asserted. The Minister further encouraged collective thinking to remain focused and aligned so that all resources and efforts are directed in a coordinated and measurable way to achieve development goals.
Minister Rachmat expressed appreciation for DNIKS’s commitment to advancing social welfare and urged civil society organisations to continue expanding their reach to vulnerable communities. The collaboration between government and society is a crucial element in achieving social justice and advancing national development in a more equitable and inclusive manner.
