Bappenas to Prioritize Development Transformation Efforts at IKN Cabinet Meeting

The Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Suharso Monoarfa, delivered a presentation at the Plenary Cabinet Session, which was held for the first time in the new capital city, Nusantara (IKN), on Monday, 12 August. The presentation focused on the contents of the 2025 Government Work Plan (RKP), with a particular emphasis on the development of IKN and the management of the Jakarta Special Region following the capital's relocation.

The 2025 RKP serves as a strategic roadmap that integrates the vision and mission of the elected president with national priorities, quick-win programs, and development targets and interventions down to the provincial level. “The 2025 RKP includes national priorities that are aligned with the elected president's vision and mission, quick wins, provincial targets and interventions, as well as control plans,” explained Minister Suharso.

One of the main focuses of the 2025 RKP is improving the quality of life for the population through programs such as free nutritious meals, free health check-ups, and the construction and revitalization of schools. Minister Suharso emphasized the importance of controlling these programs through risk management and specialized reporting mechanisms to ensure that the benefits are quickly realized by the public. The development of IKN is one of the top priorities in the 2025 RKP. IKN is also expected to become a symbol of national identity, a sustainable city, and a driver of Indonesia's future economy. “The development of Nusantara Capital City is part of Indonesia's transformation strategy, particularly in achieving balanced and high-quality regional development,” added Minister Suharso.

In his discussion, Minister Suharso also outlined the plan for managing Jakarta after the capital's relocation. The Jakarta Special Region Law, which was enacted as Law No. 2/2024, provides a strong legal foundation for Jakarta to evolve as a global city. “Jakarta, after the capital's relocation, is aimed at becoming a global city that supports its role as a national and regional economic center,” concluded Minister Suharso.

This Plenary Cabinet Session marks an important moment in preparing Indonesia for a more advanced future. With the 2025 RKP as a guide, and with a focus on the development of IKN and the transformation of Jakarta, the government is committed to realizing the vision of "Together for a Progressing Indonesia Towards a Golden Indonesia in 2045.”
