JAKARTA – The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, together with the Ministry of Public Works (PUPR), the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Land/BPN, representatives of the Government of East Java, North Maluku, and 14 other Ministries, held a Ministerial Level Meeting to discuss the finalization of the National Tourism Destination Master Plan/ Integrated Tourism Master Plan (RIDPN/ITMP) for Labuan Bajo, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru, and Morotai, on Tuesday (21/11) at the Bappenas Building, Menteng.

The RIDPN/ITMP is part of the Integrated and Sustainable Tourism Development Program (P3TB), which was formulated in collaboration with the World Bank and is supported by the State Budget (APBN).

The Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa emphasized the importance of sustainable integration between the central government and regional governments in the development of national tourist destinations. "When this master plan has been made, the regional governments must be involved and prepare accordingly for its implementation. I want to remind the regions that tourism assets are national assets for all of us. Thus, this master plan must be carried out by the regional governments in an appropriate and synchronized way," explained Minister Suharso.

The RIDPN/ITMP preparation process involves in-depth analysis, from market demand to the Unique Selling Points (USP) and advantages of each tourism destination to achieve the goals of increasing institutional capacity, road access, community participation, and improving the investment climate in the tourism sector. RIDPN/ITMP is also the foundation for the 10 Priority Tourism Destinations plan, in accordance with the 2020-2024 National Medium Term Development Plan, and the realization of the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision which aims to show Indonesia as a "Sovereign, Advanced and Sustainable Archipelago".

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Baparekraf Sandiaga Uno emphasized the importance of accelerating the establishment of the RIDPN/ITMP into a Presidential Decree as a way of fast-tracking the development of quality tourism destinations. Development is done by adopting the principles of the Blue, Green, and Circular Economy (BGCE) framework with a focus on supply chain integration, environmental sustainability and the welfare of local communities. Meanwhile, the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Land Affairs/Head of BPN Hadi Tjahjanto highlighted his ministry’s role in ensuring legal certainties and appropriate spatial planning for the development of sustainable tourism destinations.

The RIDPN/ITMP will act as a strategic guide for sustainable tourism development, with a focus on development quality, endemic animal diversity (Labuan Bajo), national park protection (Bromo-Tengger-Semeru), and marine and historical tourism experiences (Morotai).
