Development News - Wed, 21 August 2024
DEPOK – The Indonesian government continues to strive to enhance its human resources, aiming to develop high-quality and globally competitive workers. Talent management and development are key efforts to increase the number of highly qualified individuals in Indonesia. Collaboration and cooperation among various stakeholders are crucial for improving the quality of talent in Indonesia, one of which is being carried out through Talent Fest 2024.
“Indonesia is immensely rich in every aspect—as a maritime nation, an archipelago, with abundant natural resources. Likewise, brilliant and truly talented people can be found across the country,” said Amich Alhumami, Deputy for Human Development, Society, and Culture at the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, during the National Talent Management Grand Design (Talent Fest 2024) socialization session on Wednesday, 21 August.
Deputy Amich emphasized the importance of investing in talent development in Indonesia, particularly in the fields of innovation research, sports, and cultural arts. The National Talent Management (MTN) is expected to prepare competitive and internationally recognized talent in Indonesia, ensure the implementation of talent nurturing, development, and strengthening efforts holistically, integratedly, and sustainably, and coordinate policies and programs with ministries/agencies and local governments. MTN itself has five breakthrough programs: Talent Pool, collaboration, facility hub, fund synergy, and talent appreciation.
“Hopefully, with a well-organized program and synergistic work, we will achieve positive outcomes in the future for talent management in Indonesia,” said Deputy Amich.
MTN will be implemented through five stages:
- Foundation Laying Stage at the beginning of implementation in 2024.
- Strengthening Implementation Stage in 2025–2029, a critical period for strengthening the institutional management of National Talent Management and expanding collaboration with non-governmental parties.
- Consolidation Stage Toward Final Targets.
- Sustainability Stage.
- Superior National Achievement Talent Stage, the final stage to create more globally competitive talent.
Didik Darmanto, Director of Religion, Education, and Culture at the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, stated that MTN is an essential step in building superior and competitive human resources in Indonesia, in line with the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision. Through MTN, it is hoped to build a more structured ecosystem, thereby improving the quality of talent in Indonesia. Director Didik also emphasized that the implementation of MTN is a long-term effort and will be carried out in stages. “We should not expect that just because we start today, by next year, there will already be an outstanding athlete or an artist receiving an award. This is a long-term effort, and the design we have formulated spans 20 years, aligned with the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN). We will implement it step by step,” concluded Director Didik.
