Bappenas–GoVirtual Collaboration Drives Digital Transformation in Regional Priority Sectors
Partnership News - Wed, 13 August 2025
Following the strategic cooperation between the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas and PT Teknologi GoVirtual Indonesia (GoVirtual) on the ‘Collaboration for the Digitalisation of Regional Tourism and Investment Potential through Immersive Technology to Support the Implementation of the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN)’, signed on 13 March 2025, Bappenas has designed an acceleration programme for digital transformation in priority sectors by utilising immersive virtual technologies such as Virtual Tours, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The 2025–2029 RPJMN mandates digital transformation as a cornerstone of national development to foster high and sustainable economic growth. The digital transformation programme through immersive technologies will cover the acceleration of digitalisation in industries, tourism, the creative economy, regional investment, educational media, and government digitalisation.
“Digital transformation is no longer an option, but a necessity. Digitalisation must be leveraged to build credible data, support strategic policies, create business opportunities, attract investment, and strengthen the economy,” said the Deputy for Economy and Digital Transformation at Bappenas, Vivi Yulaswati, on Wednesday (13/8).
As a strategic partner in this initiative, GoVirtual provides innovative solutions that enable the government and the public to enjoy interactive experiences in exploring destinations across Indonesia. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PT Teknologi GoVirtual Indonesia, Bobby Cendrawanto, explained that immersive virtual technology, already implemented in several regions such as Semarang City and Bogor Regency, presents information on regional potential and destinations as well as educational and health institutions. This technology is easily accessible, including during flights on various Indonesian airlines, and is supported by high-definition (HD) resolution. In the future, immersive virtual technology will be extended to other regions across Indonesia.
Currently, Bappenas and GoVirtual are preparing a pilot project to map priority sectors using virtual tour technology. Subsequently, a programme to socialise this digitalisation initiative will be conducted for regional governments and relevant stakeholders.
