SAA 2024: Bappenas Encourages Innovation in Achieving SDGs to Fulfill Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision

JAKARTA – The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, through the National Secretariat for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has once again held the 2024 SDGs Action Awards (SAA).

The purpose of these awards is to appreciate various actions that contribute to achieving the SDGs targets. Entering its third year, SAA 2024 began with a ceremonial kick-off event opened by Bappenas’ Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources, Vivi Yulaswati, attended by representatives from local governments, corporations, and civil society organizations.

"We are now in the decade of action for the last ten years of SDGs implementation. Specifically, we only have six years left to achieve the various sustainable development goals by 2030. This requires attention to real actions to accelerate target achievement, as the SDGs are also part of our efforts to achieve the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045, related to Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure," explained Deputy Vivi on Tuesday (May 21).

Carrying the theme "Innovation towards Golden Indonesia: The Linkage of Quality Education, Jobs, and Green Industry," SAA 2024 is expected to attract the participation of various parties showcasing best practices with a broad impact on beneficiaries. Deputy Vivi emphasized the importance of this theme and outlined four areas of concrete action: strengthening human resources, inclusive economic growth, green industry, and digital innovation. "This theme is important and relevant to address social, economic, and environmental challenges, especially regarding the preparation of quality human resources for green jobs and green industries in line with the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision," elaborated Deputy Vivi.

Meanwhile, Bappenas’ Expert Staff for Social Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Pungkas Bahjuri Ali stated that SAA 2024 involves participants from provincial governments, civil society organizations, philanthropy, universities, corporations, micro, small and medium scale enterprises (MSMEs), cooperatives & start-ups, as well as a special category for city governments. SAA 2024 will involve an independent jury panel consisting of academics, government representatives, civil society organization representatives, and sustainable development experts.

The Ministry hopes that the achievement of the SDGs targets by 2030 will serve as a lever to achieve the goals of the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision, and invites various parties to participate in SAA 2024 by registering through sdgs-awards.bappenas.go.id from 22 May to 25 June 2024.

"We invite various parties to register the good practices they have carried out to participate in achieving the SDGs targets that align with the goals of Golden Indonesia 2045," concluded Deputy Vivi.
