Indonesia Encourages Collective Action to Tackle Global Challenges

JAKARTA – Indonesia continues to strive to promote global commitment in strengthening collective action and inclusive cooperation, as well as formulating innovative and effective solutions to increasingly complex global challenges. Hendra Prabandani, Director of Foreign Policy and International Development Cooperation at the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, stated that the 2024 High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnership (HLF MSP) is a crucial effort to bring together various stakeholders, including government, private sector, development partners, and civil society organizations, to create multi-stakeholder partnerships that foster collaborative platforms.

“We want to emphasize the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders to strengthen collective action, ensuring inclusive collaboration and cooperation, and finding innovative solutions to address global problems that we know are becoming increasingly complex,” said Director Hendra on Thursday, 15 August.

The HLF MSP forum is also expected to encourage the growth of developing countries through trade and investment. One of the key discussion focuses is international development cooperation, with the sub-theme Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships for Strengthening South-South and Triangular Cooperation.” The discussions at HLF MSP will also highlight how South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) can enhance economic productivity in developing countries. It is hoped that through this forum, both Indonesia and other developing countries can expand opportunities and gain easier access to new technologies, thereby increasing economic productivity and efficiency in global trade integration.

“This HLF MSP is Indonesia's initiative in response to the current multidimensional global issues. We are striving to reduce the development gap between developed and developing countries,” said Director Hendra.

Furthermore, HLF MSP also serves as a continuation of Indonesia's 2022 G20 Presidency, which produced a roadmap that mainstreams SSTC as a modality to enhance productivity and competitiveness. Additionally, this forum is expected to serve as a platform for developing impactful solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. “This is a manifestation of Indonesia's leadership in global solidarity. We recall that during the G20 Presidency, the Roadmap for Stronger Recovery and Resilience in Developing Countries was produced. So, this will carry forward the momentum of what the Indonesian government has built thus far,” concluded Director Hendra.
