As part of efforts to align with the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision and to promote synergy and cooperation within the framework of the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas has partnered with PT Moosa Genetika Farmindo to develop Pedet Sapi Merah Putih calves in support of national development planning. There are three key aspects in developing these calves: breeding, feed, and management.
The Minister for National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, stated that breeding forms the primary foundation for improving local cattle genetics.
“Within dairy cattle genetics, this is not only the first step towards dairy self-sufficiency but also towards Indonesia’s independence in dairy cattle breeding. Once we can carry out genetic engineering through genomic technology, we can take further steps, not just with ruminants but also with other livestock,” said Minister Rachmat on Friday, 8 August.
High-quality human resources for achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision can be realised by ensuring adequate animal protein intake, particularly from beef and dairy, supported by the designation of the National Strategic Project for Increasing Beef and Dairy Production. This strategic partnership with PT Moosa Genetika Farmindo is expected to enhance the genetic quality of Indonesia’s local cattle through molecular and modern reproduction techniques.
Key points in this cooperation include the development and utilisation of local cattle genetic technologies, capacity-building for human resources and supporting ecosystems in the development of Pedet Sapi Merah Putih, the creation of thematic, holistic, integrated, and spatial pilot projects, the exchange and utilisation of data, and other activities to support development planning.
