Bappenas Holds ‘2024 Regional Development Awards’ for Best Regional Development Planning

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo, accompanied by the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa, presented the 2024 Regional Development Award (PPD) at the 2024 National Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbangnas) at the Jakarta Convention Center on Monday, 6 May. 

The awards were distributed to regions that achieved the best performance in the planning, implementation, and innovation of development planning. 

"This award is expected to provide motivation and appreciation to regional governments that have worked hard and provided innovation in regional development," said Minister Suharso Monoarfa at the 2024 Musrenbangnas, which carried the theme of "Accelerating Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth," 

Minister Suharso emphasized that the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas selected the PPD winners based on a comprehensive and creative evaluation of regional development planning. The PPD encourages regional governments to develop more consistent, comprehensive, measurable, and implementable planning, and promotes synergy and synchronization between central and regional planning. The PPD and the 2024 Regional Development Expo, held during the 2024 Musrenbangnas, also serves as a platform for regional governments to collaborate, introduce innovations, and highlight regional excellence in planning while seeking solutions to development challenges.

In an event attended by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, ministers, leaders of high state institutions, heads of non-ministerial government institutions, governors, as well as regents and mayors, the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas awarded the 2024 PPD in the categories of provinces, regencies, and cities. 

First Place in the Best Province title was awarded to West Java, while Second place was awarded to South Kalimantan, and Third place to DKI Jakarta. Meanwhile, First Place in the Best Regency  category was awarded to Temanggung, with Second place given to Banyuwangi, and Third place to Gowa. Meanwhile, First place in the Best City category was awarded to Malang, with Palu and Metro coming in second and third place respectively.
