Minister Suharso Highlights PPATK Role in Optimizing Development Funding Sources for Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision

During the Annual Coordination Meeting with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) for 2024, the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa delivered a keynote speech on "The Role of Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing, and the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Welcoming Indonesia Emas 2045," on Tuesday (30/1).

Minister Suharso highlighted the crucial role of PPATK in optimizing funding sources for development to strengthen collaboration between institutions in realizing the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision. "How can we achieve Golden Indonesia 2045? According to me, the most important thing is how we finance our development. We want development funding to be larger, both from government and non-government sources, and PPATK plays a crucial role in supporting the optimization of this development funding," explained Minister Suharso.

The role of PPATK in expanding development funding sources, both from the government and non-government sectors, can be optimized through several ways. In the context of non-government funding sources, Minister Suharso mentioned several important aspects that PPATK needs to focus on, such as improving tax administration institutions, expanding the tax base by encouraging the informal sector to become formal, tax intensification through the evaluation of VAT policies, and a review of tax holiday policies. The optimization of development funding is also related to the prevention and eradication of Money Laundering Crimes (TPPU), Terrorism Financing Crimes (TPPT), and the Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (PPSMP).

In the context of financial crimes, Minister Suharso also emphasized the role of PPATK in strengthening legal institutions to create legal supremacy, stability, and leadership in line with the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision. "PPATK plays a role in strengthening the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) institutional structure, and in terms of implementation and law enforcement, PPATK plays a role in conducting education and training on Anti-Money Laundering and terrorism financing, as well as the recovery and settlement of assets from corruption crimes. This way, we can optimize development funding," concluded Minister Suharso.
