Bappenas Meets With Gates Foundation To Discuss Development Approaches

Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, welcomed a delegation from the Gates Foundation during a strategic meeting at the Bappenas Building on Wednesday (12/4).

The discussion focused on the experiences and innovative approaches implemented by the Gates Foundation worldwide, particularly in poverty alleviation, education, and environmental protection. Minister Rachmat expressed his appreciation for the foundation's efforts, recalling the inspiration he drew from Bill Gates’ book, The Road Ahead.

“That book was one of the first I read as a student. Today, while I haven’t had the chance to meet Bill Gates in person, I feel honored to meet representatives from the Gates Foundation. We not only seek collaboration but also hope to learn from what the Gates Foundation has achieved globally, especially in addressing poverty, protecting the environment, and supporting communities,” said Minister Rachmat.

The Minister emphasized that the lessons from the Gates Foundation could help Indonesia accelerate its efforts to meet the President’s targets for improving welfare, enhancing the education system, and ensuring food security.

“The President has set ambitious targets for the coming years. We want to ensure that the people of Indonesia have adequate access to food, better education, and quicker solutions to poverty challenges,” he added.

The Gates Foundation is globally renowned for its contributions to humanitarian programs focused on health, education, and poverty alleviation. Through this meeting, it is hoped that the insights shared by the Gates Foundation will serve as inspiration for Indonesia to implement inclusive and sustainable development solutions.
