Bappenas Commits to Accelerate Green Economy Transformation by Partnering With UN Institutions

JAKARTA – The Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN)/Bappenas, in collaboration with five United Nations (UN) agencies through the Partnership for Actions on Green Economy (PAGE) program, hosted the National Dialogue on “Accelerating Green Economy Transformation.”

This event marked the conclusion of the first phase of the PAGE Program (2019–2024) and launched the second phase, aligned with sustainable development goals. Deputy Minister of National Development Planning/Deputy Head of Bappenas, Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, underscored the critical role of green economy transformation in realizing the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision

“Green economy transformation is one of the main pillars for achieving the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045. Over the past five years, PAGE has not only delivered remarkable outcomes in accelerating this transformation but also laid the groundwork for the second phase to meet the Net Zero Emissions target by 2060,” stated Deputy Minister Febrian on Tuesday (3/12).

In collaboration with UNEP, ILO, UNIDO, UNITAR, and UNDP, the PAGE program has made significant contributions, including launching Indonesia’s first Green Economy Index, a Circular Economy Roadmap, and a Regional Food Loss and Waste Management Action Plan. “As Indonesia progresses to the second phase of PAGE, it is vital to close the green investment gap and develop innovative financing mechanisms. Together, we can accelerate sustainable project implementation and ensure the green economy supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” highlighted Steven Stone, Chair of the PAGE Management Board, in his remarks.

The national dialogue emphasized the importance of the pentahelix collaboration model as a key driver of inclusive and sustainable development. Deputy Minister Febrian expressed optimism that this partnership is the best way to accelerate green economy transformation, showcasing Indonesia’s commitment to the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision.

“Implementing PAGE Phase 2 reaffirms Indonesia’s dedication to achieving the Net Zero Emissions target by 2060 or sooner while fostering inclusive economic growth through circular economy approaches and sustainable financing,” concluded Deputy Minister Febrian.
